He however manages to rise above a very mediocre cast that play one dimensional characters. Matt Dallas, as lead character Kyle, channels a wooden foreign exchange student each episode. It's not one thing that lets Kyle XY down, it's everything. After viewing this box set I am surprised to discover that Kyle XY has a primetime slot and isn't on after Power Rangers on a Saturday morning. Living in Australia this show did not cross my radar until its DVD release. While neither Smallville nor Roswell are perfect shows (memory loss much?), it must be said that an episode of Alf holds more emotional depth than does Kyle XY.
